How can i tell when i hit the powerband?

I have a 02 Blaster (stock) that i just bought today, and i took it for a little ride, and I was wondering when can i tell i hit the powerband, is it like a umpf of power? because i was in 6th and i was hitting the throttle, and barely getting any power, then it just -wham- and i was flying.
